The Good Heart Cafe: Summer of Pop-Ups (10 June to 28 September 2024)

OVERVIEW

The Good Heart is a much-loved community café and centre located at 7 Palmer Street in the middle of Frome, with indoor seating for around 20 people plus some outdoor tables. It has suddenly become available for pop-up catering from 10 June to 28 September 2024 (16 weeks in total). We are looking for caterers who are interested in offering a lunchtime service from the premises (with the additional option of Friday and Saturday evenings) for a maximum of four non-consecutive weeks during this period.


We are a non-profit organisation dedicated to kindness. All income from our catering activities goes
towards supporting events and activities such as the annual Frome Kindness Festival.


CATERER PROFILE

  • A great cook with a warm personality and excellent communication skills

  • In possession of appropriate insurance and food hygiene qualifications, plus an understanding of health & safety. Uses inspected premises for any cooking offsite.

  • Able and enthusiastic about promoting their service on social media

  • Supports the values and ethos of The Good Heart

 

SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

  • Reliable and consistent opening hours: Monday to Saturday 12 – 3pm (Friday and Saturday evenings available as an optional extra)

  • Vegetarian and/or plant-based menu, both in-house and take-away

  • Affordable: the majority of dishes costing £5 to £8

  • Children’s menu options

  • Participation in The Good Heart’s Pay-It-Forward and free hot drinks schemes (these are free of financial cost for the caterer, but demand a caring approach to any vulnerable customers)

  • Committed to maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and café areas

 

WHAT THE GOOD HEART WILL PROVIDE

  • Sole use of a well-equipped kitchen during serving hours (preparation times to be agreed)

  • Premises insurance, utilities, fire equipment, toilet supplies, wifi, music licence and equipment

  • Customer crockery, cutlery, glasses, mugs etc

  • All the ingredients for the free hot drinks service

  • Any necessary building maintenance and repairs

  • Promotion of the scheme on our website and social media

  • A Venue Manager available for queries and support

 

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS

  • A non-refundable deposit of £100 per week, payable in advance by bank transfer to secure the slot

  • 10% of takings to The Good Heart, due within 2 weeks from the end of each catered week
